PE
At Harris Primary Academy Kent House we believe that Physical Education will make a very important contribution to a child’s development by fostering positive attitudes towards sharing, co-operation and competition.
We aim to develop pupil’s self confidence and self-esteem through a wide variety of experiences both in curriculum time and competition in and out of school.
In both Key Stage 1 and 2 children are taught Gymnastics, Dance, Athletics, Invasion games (multi-sports at KS1) and Swimming. These form the core activities of the PE Curriculum. We work with an organisation called KICK London to provide every Key Stage 1 and 2 class with high quality PE coaching each week.
Harris Academy Kent House currently runs extra-curricular sporting activities across both key stages, dependent upon the time of year, in Football, Rugby, Cross-Country, Cheerleading, Multi Sports, Dance and Athletics.
The school competes in many borough competitions as well as federation competitions. We have many fantastic teams as well as sporting talent across the Academy.
This year we aim to use the Sports Premium Funding by helping our gifted and talented students in PE as well as setting up more sports clubs. Teachers and staff will have the opportunity access more sports specialist training enabling lessons to be more fun and engaging.
We are very proud of all our children and their sporting achievements. They work well as a team and produce the results we can all be very proud of.
All physical education experiences are intended to meet all abilities and offer stimulating and challenging learning. We also aim to promote the values of exercise & enthusiasm for physical activities and to promote a lifelong interest in physical education as a whole.
